I'm living my dream of supporting leaders to be the very best they can be, for themselves, for their colleagues, their organizations and their communities.
I started my working life as a nurse. I am very grounded in my values of caring, health, learning and adventure and my career is evidence of this. I've worked as a front line nurse, an educator, an administrator, a volunteer and an elected leader in my professional organization. I've lived through the challenges of serving the health needs of our population in acute and community care and know what it's like to be stretched with high demand and limited resources.
I've been fortunate to live and work in several provinces, landing in on Vancouver Island in the mid-1990's. I now call Victoria home.
I love to learn and seem to be always enrolled in some type of program. I have a diploma and undergraduate degree in nursing (Queen's), a graduate degree in leadership (RRU) and a graduate certificate in executive coaching (RRU). I'm qualified to administer Myers Briggs Type Inventory and the EQ in Action inventory. I've also completed training in such diverse topics as healing touch, improvisational comedy and maintaining diesel engines (from my liveaboard days).
I've been an independent leadership consultant since 2004, working in the health sector, with non-profits and in the post-secondary system. I teach leadership in the RRU MA Leadership program and have been privileged to be on faculty teams for custom leadership programs in BC, the Yukon, in Ontario and in PEI health systems. I was the research coordinator and project manager for the development and early days of the LEADS in a Caring Environment leadership capability framework. I work with some private coaching clients. My best days are when I see leaders' eyes shining with new insights and energy for leading more effectively with heart, humility and enthusiasm.
I have a strong commitment to supporting the development of community leadership. I was an active volunteer, coach and facilitator with Leadership Victoria for 6 years and am delighted to be working in 2012 with United Way Leadership Vancouver.
I love to travel and dream of combining my sense of adventure with the joy of learning in some type of leadership study expedition.
